MEGA Fitual

What is it you love about MEGA/teaching MEGA?

I love that the work in the Mega room not only targets core strength - which has physical benefits for everything else you do in life - it is also both a great low-impact, full-body workout and an amazing way to practice mindfulness!

My favourite part of teaching Mega is seeing the satisfied smiles of clients at the end of the class as they leave knowing they have built new strength in themselves - strength in body, mind, and spirit!

What is your advice for a first-timer?

Although the reformer might look intimidating when you first encounter it, if you’re like every other first timer I’ve worked with, you’ll end the class saying, “That was intense! But I love it! I’m hooked!”

What is your favourite Mega move? Why?

I’ve always loved the kneeling forearm crunch. It provides a nice solid base of support and yet - especially when you initiate the movement with the upper abdominals instead of the hip flexors - it really fires up the core! (I also love to kick it up a notch and do it off the back platform for extra intensity!)

What can one expect from your class?

I am constantly giving cues (verbal, visual, and tactile) for proper alignment and technique with the goal of having clients produce their best form for the best results in the safest way possible. (As a former professional ballet dancer, proper alignment and technique are principles that have been hardwired into my brain!)
